Democratic Centralism is the fundamental value that Afrika Mayibuye espouses by virtue of being a movement that is driven by the bottom-up approach in the decision-making process. Consequently, because we are not a federal organization, the decision of the higher structure will always be binding on the lower structures.

Black South Africans make up the majority of the country’s population. This number translates into 81.4% of the South African population which is around 49.1 million people who are Black Africans. (2022 Census).

According to the UCT Liberty Institute report (2022), 3.4 Million Black South Africans, about 7% of the Black African Population possess an estimated R400 billion in annual spending power.

South African households further collectively spent an estimated R3 trillion between November 2022 and November 2023, according to the findings of the Income & Expenditure Survey (IES 2022/2023) South African households allocate the majority of their consumption expenditure to four main areas in 2023: housing and utilities, food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport, and insurance and financial services.

It is against this statistical background that African Mayibuye will serve as a vehicle that will ensure that economic development happen at household level. Afrika Mayibuye must equally encourage Black households to also be producers of their goods instead of consumers of ‘other people’s’ products.
